Utrecht is the fastest growing city in the Netherlands, its growth taking place within the current city borders. Because of this concentration in the city, the municipality decided to invest in the quality of the living environment. All new developments have to contribute in some way to the enhancement of health and sustainability. On the west side of the station (Jaarbeurs area), The New Centre is being developed. The future vision for this area is titled ‘a Healthy Urban Boost’. But how can you actually realize such an ambition of healthy urbanism? The municipality will present their work in progress, discuss new solutions and elaborate on the dilemma’s they encounter.
